For any young girl/ women irregularity of monthly menses / periods cycle, non-occurrence of monthly cycle without medicines, excessive bleeding during periods or bleeding lasting for several days are a big irritation and a problem in day-to-day life. These symptoms are an indication of a health issue called Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
In a series of articles, I will be discussing about this vexing issue; its causes and the possible solutions using homoeopathy, change of lifestyle, food and exercise. In this first article of this PCOS series, we will see common issues associated with PCOS.
In many cases of PCOS, wrong medication is prescribed without correct and complete understanding of the problem which results in aggravation of the problem.
School and college going teenage girls (13–19 years old) many a times are facing problems of acne/ pimples and they take different kinds of treatment for the same which give temporary benefit but the problems recur again and again. Irregular periods, pimples on face, back, hair growth on upper lips, jaws, face, neck, chest, stomach, weight gain, inability to reduce weight despite a lot of efforts, severe hair loss, depression, lack of enthusiasm/zeal in daily life; presence of all or some of these symptoms indicate possibility of PCOS.
Post marriage also this problem continues in varying severity or it at times self-cures. PCOS causes problems in conceiving and therefore it could lead to infertility. In the age group of 30–35 years, this hormonal problem increases the probability of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
These problems can be averted if timely advice and right treatment is taken.
