In the earlier articles, we have learnt about symptoms and causes leading to PCOS and some basic aspects about homoeopathic treatment of PCOS. As promised in the last article, in this article, I will try to answer some of the key questions relating to homoeopathic treatment of PCOS.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. Why do you recommend Homoeopathic treatment for PCOS?

A. In Homoeopathic treatment, medicine is customised for each person. It is not an ‘one medicine for all patients’ approach. The Homoeopathic doctor understands totality of the patient and prescribes the right medicine and correct dosage using their knowledge of homoeopathic principles and experience gained as practitioners. As the medication works at the root level, it leads to restoration of hormonal balance in the body. That is why homoeopathic treatment could be considered a good solution for a permanent cure without ill side effects.

Q. How much time does it take to cure PCOS with homoeopathy and till when the treatment should continue?

A. The medicine starts showing effects in 2–3 months. Many a times, if there are problems with lifestyle of the patient, a serious improvement is necessary in that regard. Treatment needs to be continued till the symptoms of PCOS are present and the hormonal balance is restored as per medical reports.

Q. Once cured, can PCOS recur?

A. Yes. Remember the causes of PCOS — genetic, lifestyle, food, mental stress etc. If one starts living the same old bad lifestyle, doesn’t take care of food and experiences work or mental stress, PCOS can recur. As they say, Prevention is better than cure!

Q. If the medical reports are indicating a need for surgery for removal of the cyst, can the surgery be averted with homoeopathy?

A. Yes. However, that decision will have to be taken on a case to case basis by the Homoeopath after studying various factors including the size of the cyst, type of cyst etc.

Q. What other aspects are important in addition to homoeopathic medication?

A. Taking only homoeopathic medicine or only taking care of diet, lifestyle and managing stress will not give complete result. For that, both, medicine and the following important improvements have to go together:

Yoga — Traditional Yoga has shown miraculous results in several of my patients as it focuses on the total health and core of the individual.

Weight loss — as mentioned earlier, at least 10% weight reduction is necessary. Brisk walk and floor exercises are quite useful in this respect.

Food habits — reduce the consumption of junk food, fatty food, outside food and increase the consumption of fruits, vegetables and dry fruits.

Sleep pattern — sleep for continuous 7 hours, preferably at night.

De-addiction — complete discontinuation of tobacco, hookah, alcohol, drugs

De-stressing — learn to manage work and emotional stress. Counselling from professional can help.
